Sadly the sequels never quite recaptured the magic, and the whole series seems to be largely forgotten these days. I remember having to install a patch on one of them to revert the green blood back to red.Ĭarmageddon 2 was easily one of my favorite games growing up, it did just about everything right. Its a nice small physical feedback to let you know you probably should eject and find a new vehicle.Ĭarmageddon was awesome. If your vehicle is on the verge of being destroyed, the haptic feedback will vibrate like you have pieces of your vehicle hanging off like the visual is showing. The Dualsense triggers will have stop points you press past to accelerate and break. But instead of a simon says game we get a single Left or Right (Square/Circle) simon says for the person taking over and the driver has to wobble L stick left and right a bunch to counter it. Takeover attempts had me back at Mechassault 2 Elemental neurohack attempts against mechs. One lets you drop mines, another copies their own trail of fire that their hero car has. Each Breaker power has some unique ability along with the run speed and double jump. You don't need Breaker power (R1) to ride (triangle) opposing vehicles in attempts to takeover or wreck their vehicle. The first meter controls your avatar, and spending that meter temporarily increases your character's running speed, adds a double jump, and lets them hop onto opposing cars and try to overtake them via a button-tapping mini-game. Much more realistic than the article's game offers.Ĭarmageddon cost me a couple of no-sleep nights. I have it on PS4 and it is a very fun Destruction Derby-like game. If you like those types of games, you should seriously consider Wreckfest. I loved Destruction Derby, one of my all time favorites (along with Burnout 3: Takedown). Maybe a little bit more real world-like, or is it just me? hmm, maybe it's just me getting old. Looking at Destruction allStars, seems a cool game, but honestly, all these online games are coming out like Fortnite, all colourful neon. I might be really old, but playing Destruction Derby on a PC (when it first came out) was just such a blast! Add to that a bit of Burnout arcade vibes *bliss* I'm not sure I have time to play an online arena game like this but if that's your thing it's worth checking out. Gave me a real sort of Rocket League meets Overwatch vibe. Drive destruction: The finest engineers have carefully crafted 28 vehicles for the Global Destruction Federation.I'm going to admit something, I have a PS5 and I played this last night.
